Failure Leads to Success

The focus of being great is an understanding of where we have failed... Players and squads have bad matches that make you question a lot if things. Where did it go wrong? Why was my level so low? How do I fix this? Moments like these do not define us. Even professional players have off days, seasons, years, but they always find a way back. How do I find mine?

Having the mindset of being positive in situations like this allows us to still get a good percentage out of ourselves. You aren't letting anyone down by playing poorly. It happens. Bad touches, shots, defending, etc is part of the game. Ignore the negativity that might be brought out from others. You can hear parents from the sideline who are not saying anything productive. Critizing the coach and bringing down other players. You must become focused again. What are the actual tactics being given to you by your coach? Get back to the basics and go again. At the end, the result of the match may not have been in your favor, but we can get back on track. Learn from it and move forward.

In recent years, there has been so much information available for people to access. Information on social media, youtube, and the internet in general has become such a content filled "necessity" for athletes. Education in our sport is easily accessible to everyone. We need more ideas of technical and tactical understanding. Researching how others train can put us in the right state of mind to compete. The issue is that we can easily be distracted by the other content that is out there. What we indulge will shape our focus and allow us to improve where we struggled in the past. Motivational and educational content with a sprinkle of entertainment is the right mix to set us up for success. Purely entertainment with minimal motivation sets the mood for absolute failure.

If we want to bounce back, let us set the bar high for what we want to accomplish. Change the way that you see yourself. You want to win, then create winning habbits. You want to be the best in your squad, then raise your level of training outside of your scheduled sessions. Expecation and reality are two different measurements. If we expect ourselves to be great then our reality must be great. Meaning, how we go about preparing for the challenge ahead will shape the result that we deserve.

Bring out the best in yourself. Bring up others around you. Show up and focus on how you can bounce back from that poor result in form. Form is temporary, class is permanent...
