Iron Sharpens Iron

What makes us grow? What makes us understand how we need to improve? Our environment is crucial to our development. The game will tell you what you are good at and what you need to improve. Your attitude is the main thing that you can take full control of right away. We want to become better and have a focus on how we raise our level throughout our development phase. It starts at home though. It starts with your ability to push yourself with the support on that car ride to and from events.

Having trust in your coach and teammates is a huge part of success. No coach is perfect, but it has been your choice to play on this team, so why not put faith in them? Good coaches will push your limits and give you that tough love. There are players who cannot take constructive criticism well and go into defensive mode when being coached. Then blame others for their faults. Your actions during this time will be judged not only by your coach, but also by your teammates. Can they count on you in those big moments? This is another element of the process and will only make you better by understanding why you are being spoken to. Empty yelling from anyone isn't helpful. Which you may have experienced over the years. If the coaching point is there then understand why you are being spoken to and corrected. Same when information is coming from your teammates. Your squad is going to coach you and push you to become better. When receiving that feedback,  just remind yourself that it is just a conversation that you are having with them. Do not take it personal. There will be moments when you disagree with your them, but continue to be respectful. You never know who is watching.

When everyone is on the same page, the team, as well as yourself, can grow. If the environment is competitive, with the ability to receive proper critiques from everyone, and the combination of togetherness... It is the type of place that you want to be. Be open to understanding that you may not have had the best of sessions or that you may not be on the same level as everyone else yet. It is perfectly fine. You need to be willing to learn and become coachable. Focus on your growth and how to achieve it.
